ECN 505 Issues in Canadian Labour Markets

This course deals with selected contemporary issues in Canadian labour markets. The first part of the course begins with the standard economics of labour supply and demand, as well as the major critiques and alternatives. The course also looks at wage structures, geographic labour mobility, the presence of labour unions, the increasing participation of women, the question of discrimination in labour markets, and the debate over the effects of free trade on employment patterns.
