POL 540 Issues in Third World Politics

Students will be introduced to the key issues in Third World Politics. What is the Third World? What are the political, economic, social and cultural factors that account for many problems currently facing the Third World? Why are debt, hunger, authoritarianism and political instability seemingly endemic to Third World countries?
