This course will provide students with opportunities to develop a depth and breadth of knowledge and skills in the nursing care of women with a variety of health and illness related issues. The course will examine issues of importance to women’s health in the context of family, work and recreation. The theoretical and research literature will be examined relating to issues such as: women and body image, women and infertility, women and aging, women as health care providers, and women and stereotyping in society. Students will be encouraged to examine nursing’s role with the interdisciplinary team in a variety of health care settings, addressing the needs of women. Students will be expected to demonstrate application of concepts. Lect: 3 hrs.
