HST 610 Modern U.S. Foreign Relations

This course examines U.S. international relations from 1898 during a time that witnessed the nation’s emergence as the world’s dominant state. It analyses the factors – diplomatic, military, economic, and cultural – that contributed to the ascendance of the United States and the ways in which American power shaped the modern world. Topics include U.S. contributions to war and peacemaking, international institutions and governance, and the establishment of a global liberal economic regime. UL Lect: 3 hrs.
