Beginning with a brief look at the period before the arrival of the United Empire Loyalists from the United States in the 1770s, this course traces the political, social, and economic developments that provided the foundations of modern Ontario. Through wars, revolution, and rapid economic development, the patterns of immigration, ethnic tensions and struggles to overcome pioneering conditions are traced.
