In the face of increasing territorial fragmentation, the world is rapidly becoming a technological “global village” where distance has almost no effect on behaviour. The purpose of this course is to explore the globalization phenomena and the resulting territorial, economic, and cultural structure of the world today. The point of view will be that of Canada’s place in the world, and opposing views on the social, environmental and economic efficacy of globalization will be presented. Lect: 3 hrs.
