FSN 503 Design, Text and Ideas

This course introduces students to the area of Visual Culture, focusing on key subjects in art and design and their relationship to social theory in the Modern period. Visual signifying systems such as symbolism, iconography and semiotics will be covered, with an emphasis on art and design that engages with social, ecological or environmental issues. Lect: 3 hrs.
