ECN 605 Labour Economics

This course aims to introduce students to basic labour economics, with particular reference to the Canadian case. This course draws on contemporary methods to model and analyse key aspects such as labour supply and demand behaviour. These aspects are combined to explore the determination of wages and major policy questions such as minimum wage legislation and unionization. The acquired tools are applied to special topics such as human capital investment, immigration, gender discrimination and unemployment. Lect: 3 hrs.
