ECN 511 Economy and Environment

This course looks at the relationship between the economy and the environment. It discusses how economics can help identify key issues in environmental problems. Economic concepts are used to shed light on solutions to the problem of pollution, the management of common property resources, and the possibility of “sustainable development”. Issues to be discussed in the course include acid rain, the greenhouse effect, the devastation of tropical rainforests, biodiversity, and environmental ethics.
