CRM 404 Criminal Justice Policy

This course examines various strategies of crime control and prevention, and the theoretical foundations upon which they are based. The emphasis will be on deterrence, incapacitation, rehabilitation, and community based strategies and research findings on the extent to which they “work” in controlling or preventing crime. Consideration will also be given to public attitudes toward such policies, and the political context in which various strategies emerge. Lect: 3 hrs.
