CPS 750 Telecomm Networks: Wireless Systems

The fundamental concepts of layered communications architecture are re-examined from the wireless data transmission point of view in order to understand the performance, behaviour and design of modern wireless technology. Emphasis is placed on radio and microwave transmission fundamentals, modulation systems, wireless error correction methods, spread spectrum transmission, code division multiple access, transmitters, receivers and antennas. Other topics involve signal analysis, digital signal processing (DSP), multipath fading, infrared systems, wireless networks and WLANs. Lect: 3 hrs.
