SWP 933 Indigenous Health and Well Being

Taking a global perspective, Indigenous health and wellness will be explored through the decolonizing theoretical framework of the Anishinaabe Medicine Wheel – a balance of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. The health status of Indigenous people globally, the Indigenous peoples of North America, and more specifically Aboriginal peoples of Canada will be discussed through social and political determinants of health lens. The course will also focus on promising health promotion practices and programs. Lect: 3 hrs.
