SWP 932 Evaluating Social Work Practices

Given the increasing concern with accountability in the social services, social workers are consistently being asked to evaluate their practice effectiveness. This introductory course provides students with an opportunity to critically explore traditional and emerging approaches to evaluation. Various evaluation methodologies are reviewed, along with the political, ethical and contextual aspects of evaluation research. Students will develop the skills necessary for designing and implementing evaluation studies that include needs assessments, process evaluations and impact studies. Lect: 3 hrs.
