SWP 929 Working in Marginalized Communities

This course is focused on examining the discourses on communities and populations that contribute to their marginalization and social exclusion. Through this examination, the impact of discourses that are produced through systemic policies, programs and practices by the media, educational, criminal justice, social welfare and other institutions will be explored. Anti-oppressive strategies, approaches and principles that support personal and social transformations are also addressed. Lect: 3 hrs.
