SWP 923 Family Violence

The course provides a critical examination of understandings of violence as experienced within families. Drawing on feminist perspectives within the field of gender based violence; forms of violence are identified along with societal and social work responses. The course examines, but is not limited to, domestic/intimate violence, sexual/physical assault, harassment, neglect and emotional abuse. Also included is a critique of practice approaches in working with survivors of violence. Lect: 3 hrs.
