SWP 909 Social Work and the Law: Children and Family

This course will focus on the many areas of the law that social workers need to be familiar with in order to work with children and families (e.g. marriage, co-habitation, separation, divorce, custody, access, child protection and substitute decision-making). Students will be helped to understand their legal obligations as social workers and to become more comfortable with what might be expected of them in working with lawyers and in courts. Lect: 3 hrs.
