SWP 908 Social Group Work

This course focuses on the theory, context and practice of social group work. Different theoretical foundations for social group work are explored, as well as the impact of funding, agency mandates and socio-political climate. Social group work processes and activities are critically examined, including exploration, assessment, group design, implementation and evaluation. A commitment to social work values is stressed, along with the intersection of social location with social group work practice. Lect: 3 hrs.
