SOC 502 Violence and the Family

This course explores the nature of violence, its manifestations in family life, its root causes, its consequences, and the social reaction to this violence. The family is viewed as a major social institution that is affected by the changes that occur within society. The primary goal is to facilitate students’ understanding of violence and its relationship to family life within the socio-cultural context. Lect: 3 hrs.
