SOC 501 Sociology of Work

This course examines work as a central social activity. Particular emphasis is given to problems and conflicts arising from present forms of organization and authority in industrial and other workplaces. Topics include: historical development and effects of the division of labour; alienation and anomie, with special attention to work satisfaction and dissatisfaction. UL Lect: 3 hrs.
