POL 220 Canadian Politics and Social Policy

This course examines the development and role of social policy in Canada. A major theme is the ideas, values and beliefs which shaped income support, health care and education policy and the impact of the welfare state on individual well being and opportunity. The course will focus on the politics of social policy and the factors which have led to the erosion of the welfare state in Canada. Lect: 3 hrs.
