PLG 710 Municipal Finance for Planners

The course objective is for the student to gain an understanding of the municipal financial system in which planners must formulate and implement policy. This requires an understanding of revenue sources and expenditures as well as the budget process. The course will also introduce financial tools used in the local government sector including service pricing, development charges, and innovative financing. There will also be discussions about infrastructure planning as well as current Provincial government financing initiatives, programs and reforms. Lect: 3 hrs.
