PHL 406 Issues of Life, Death, and Poverty

In light of our moral concepts and theories, this course critically examines current controversies concerning the sanctity of life, the constraints on ending life, and our obligations to provide the conditions for an acceptable life. Topics are drawn from issues like the following: abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, genetic manipulation, war, torture, global poverty, famine relief, and basic welfare rights. LL Lect: 3 hrs.
