This course aims to provide the philosophical background and conceptual tools which would enable students to recognize and handle complex contemporary issues and conflicts involving human rights. Topics include: classic and contemporary theories of rights and justice; equity and affirmative action; children’s rights; gender, sexual orientation and equality rights; aboriginal, language and cultural rights: human rights and cultural relativism.
