PHL 334 Ethics in Professional Life

This course examines the many ways that organizations and professions institutionalize values, influence beliefs and attitudes, and guide conduct through prescriptions for professional practices and missions and mandates for organizations. The course focuses on prominent issues such as codes of ethics, conflict of interest, dirty hands, and whistle-blowing. Readings emphasize the complexities of virtue and moral agency for professionals and organizations, while comparing and contrasting selected established and emerging professions. Lect: 3 hrs.
