Properties of materials, crystal structure, types of bonding, crystal vibrations. Dielectrics, metals and semiconductors. Free-electron model and conductivity in metals. Band theory in metals and semiconductors. The p-n junctions, transistors and other solid state devices. Phase transitions in ferromagnetic, ferroelectric and other materials. Surface properties.
