PCS 228 Electricity and Magnetism

Electrostatic force: field lines, electric flux and Gauss’ law. Electrostatic potential energy: electric potential, energy stored in conductors, capacitance, and energy density. DC circuits: Ohm’s law and Kirchoff’s rules. Magnetic force and magnetic field: force and torque on current-carrying conductors, Hall effect. AC circuits: oscillating circuits. Maxwell equations: electromagnetic waves and the nature of light. Lect: 3 hrs./Lab: 1.5 hrs.
