NPF 605 Independent Cinema II

The course considers a range of practices that take place outside the framework of support offered by the major cinematic institutions – practices that are shaped by the creative drive of individual filmmakers, the so-called “personal film.” The work of film artists from France, Germany, the United States, Britain and Canada will be included. Readings will consist largely of manifestos, letters and documents generated by the filmmakers who are the principal subjects of study. (Formerly second half of NPF35AB). Lect: 3 hrs. Prerequisite: NPF 505 Course Weight: 1.00 Billing Units: 1
