MUS 110 Music and Film

The use of music with film has evolved from early stereotyped borrowing of nineteenth century classical European repertoire to newly created scores that enhance and support the dramatic themes of the film. This course explores the relationship between music and film, the functions and effects of music and how the music supports or plays against the visual images. Analysis of selected film genres will demonstrate how music can strengthen the film’s dramatic themes. LL Lect: 3 hrs. Course Weight: 1.00 Billing Units: 1
