ITM 724 Consulting Skills for IT Professionals

Whether an internal or external consultant to an organization, IT professionals need well developed consulting skills. This course will examine the consulting industry, consulting firms and consulting process models as they apply to various types of IT consulting engagements. Students will study real life consulting projects with practitioners in order to explore consulting skills, roles, skills and services and how they apply to IT projects. Students will also carry out self-assessment and career planning activities to determine their fit to a consulting career and how to explore careers in the industry. Much of the course is taught through classroom exercises and simulations, requiring pre-class preparation and active participation. This course will be relevant to students who anticipate being external or internal consultants. Lect: 3 hrs. Prerequisites: ITM 505 and ITM 750 Course Weight: 1.00 Billing Units: 1
