HSM 330 Managerial Epidemiology for Healthcare

It is important for managers to understand the populations they serve. This course will illustrate how the manager can use epidemiological concepts and tools to improve management decisions – from setting rates to predicting staffing needs to marketing the services of the organization. Managers need to know the methods and ideas of epidemiology. The information will be presented in a manner that meets the needs of the healthcare manager. Some of the topics covered will be study designs and descriptive epidemiology; quantitative measures and terminology. Lect: 3 hrs.
