HIS 514 Innovators, Capitalists, and Managers

This course examines modern business as an agent of economic innovation and assesses its political, social, and cultural impact. It deals with the increasingly complex institutions of business, including the rise of the modern corporation, a new managerial elite, marketing, advertising, and public relations. The course highlights big business in the United States, and explores alternative business models from Japan and Europe.
