HIS 390 International Relations to 1945

This course analyses key aspects of international relations from the rise of the modern nation state to the Second World War. It examines methods and structures established to mediate relations between states, the causes and consequences of international conflicts, and the development of international institutions and law. It also explores the major models and theories of international relations employed by diplomats and scholars as they seek to make sense of a frequently chaotic international order. Lect: 3 hrs.
