GMS 512 Algebra and Optimization

This course offers students an introduction to linear algebra and optimization techniques useful in managerial decision making. Matrices, determinants and linear programming are reviewed and Input-Output models are discussed. The course also covers partial differentiation and the use of Lagrange multipliers in the formulation of optimization problems in business. Throughout the course applications are drawn from specialized areas of business including quality control, inventory management and transportation management.
