GEO 551 Urbanization and Regional Development

A systems framework is used to examine the link between urbanization and regional development and examine prescriptive approaches to directing and managing growth and its consequences. Case examples, ranging from examination of planning issues in urban centered regions through to evaluation of development strategies for “marginal” regions, are used to demonstrate the practical role of geographic analysis in understanding and addressing problems arising from growth and disparity.
