FRE 902 Gender and Decadence 1850-1920

This course examines changing gender roles and images of masculinity and femininity in French and Francophone authors from Balzac and Flaubert to Rachilde, Nelly Arcand, Michel Tremblay, Proust and Colette, with a focus on the perceived relationship between evolving female/male roles and social expectations.
