CLD 161 Field Education I

In their first on-campus or off-campus placement, students apply their observation skills, knowledge of children and families, and curricula in a range of early childhood settings. These placement settings include the Ryerson Early Learning Centre, early childhood care and education settings, nursery schools and play – based kindergartens. Students assume an active role working with children from infants to age 8 with a focus on building and nurturing positive relationships with the children, planning and implementing early learning activities, developing supportive relationships with families and the community, and working with colleagues. The on-campus seminar component of the course supports the students’ placement experience. Lab: 6 hrs.
