BDC 983 Radio Broadcast Journalism

This course combines an introductory theory package with extensive practice. The theory covers story structure, shaping the language for the ear, the value and purpose of original sound and interview segments, journalistic conventions, reporting procedures and the law as it applies to daily news functions. The majority of the term is designed to allow students to undertake newsroom tasks and roles on a rotating basis. Each lab session culminates in a radio newscast. Lab: 3 hrs.
