BDC 311 Communications Theory

This course will introduce students to the basic concepts of communication theory including media literacy and the encoding and decoding of messages in the media. A broad variety of important theorists will be reviewed, as will concepts of Canadian nationalism, globalized media, digital media, and internet theory. Contemporary examples of many types of media will be analyzed to show the impact of theory on the practical delivery of messages. Lect: 3 hrs. Course Weight: 1.00 Billing Units: 1
