MPF 427 Film History and Criticism since 1945

This course surveys the history and criticism of the cinema from the post-WWII period to the present. It traces major film movements and filmmakers, as well as the critical analysis that was produced to grapple with important issues of representation and context. Topics include: authorship, genre, ideology, national cinema, and alternative film practices. (Formerly the second half of MPF27AB). Lect: 3 hrs.
